Directions for Use & Reactivation of Dehumidifier Desiccants

Protect and extend the life of your valuable hearing aid

with regular use of a dehumidifier.

Hearing instrument wearers rely on dehumidifiers to remove damaging moisture. The moisture inherently builds up within hearing aids from perspiration, humidity and other moist weather conditions.

Before retiring for the night, hearing aids should be cleaned, disinfected and placed in a dehumidifier, on top of the desiccant, with the hearing aid battery doors in the open position.  Leave the hearing aids in the hearing aid dehumidifier overnight.  Do this every night to minimize moisture damage, and to get the maximum benefits and years of reliable service from your valuable hearing aid.

  • Plastic container with desiccant insert

  • Removes damaging moisture from Behind-The-Ear and In-The-Ear Hearing Aids

  • Large enough for 2 BTE aids

Directions for Use

1.  Before retiring for the night, clean your hearing aid and ear molds (if you have them) with disinfectant wipes, or as directed by your hearing aid provider.

2.  Open battery doors.  Always remove batteries!

3.  Place the hearing aid on the screen side of the desiccant.

4.  Replace the lid and close tightly.

When all desiccant beads are green, it is time to reactivate.  Place desiccant, screen side up, in microwave and heat for 1 minute on high.  Cool for 20 minutes. Never reheat desiccant before thoroughly cooling. Most beads will have a yellowish tint, which means it is ready to use.  Option:  Reactivate in conventional oven.  Remove desiccant from jar and bake, screen side up, for 1 hour at 200 degrees F (93 C), or until beads are yellow.  Allow desiccant to cool before handling.

NOTE: DO NOT PLACE HEARING AID IN MICROWAVE OR OVEN AT ANY TIME.

5% - 10% of the pellets have the blue activator, and are there to let you know when to reactivate. When all pellets have become white, it is time to reactivate. Place pellets evenly on microwave-safe plate or bowl. Set oven to MEDIUM (1/2 power). Set time for 30 seconds. Run microwave. Caution: Beads will be very hot. COOL and repeat until blue pellets reappear.  Pellets are non-toxic. Return cooled pellets to glass jar.  Follow all package directions.

DO NOT PLACE HEARING AID IN MICROWAVE OR OVEN AT ANY TIME.

NOTE: Never reheat pellets until cool. Reheating warm or hot pellets will destroy the activator.
